If you are serious about doing well in GAMSAT:
Buy a human anatomy and physiology textbook (like Marieb) and study it until you know all the body systems well.
Also, read up a mother-load on chemistry and organic chemistry.
Practice some essay writing.
Use the ACER GAMSAT resources.
Attend Des O'Neill's GAMSAT prep course after you have done all of this.

I plan to take the GAMSAT in about a year.
I have no science knowledge.
What materials/books would benefit me most?, to ensure I pass.

What are the best resources out there for GAMSAT preparation?
I really want to pass, but I have no science background so I'm starting from scratch

how do the calculate the GPA for entry into med school?
I failed 2 classes in the first year of my bachelor because of extenuating circumstances,
Is there anyway i can have the failures not included in my GPA?

Hi there, I am new to the forum and plan to sit gamsat next year (2011)and am getting in early with my preparation as I really want to get into Medicine first time around and am finding the practice questions from Acer rather challenging
I had a look on Prepgenies website and thought that it looked pretty good, as well as being alot better priced that some of the others.
Has anyone (obviously other than prepgenie) used this material and if yes, how did you find it? I thought my weakness was the humanities and social sciences stuff as I have a Biotech degree but now I realise I really need to pretend I know nothing and start from there!!
Any advice etc would be most welcome - I can only really afford to spend 1hr a day studying as I have a fulltime job and a 20 month old boy.

I wrote about 2-3 pages for each essay. I planned out what I wanted to say and just hammered it out as fast as I could. I read them afterwards and was pretty happy after a couple of changes. The girl next to me finished about the same time ...

Yeah someone in front of me said she counted the number of rows & people in each row and came up with 2600, plus the fact that there was another venue at UTS as well as Australian Technology Park. PLUS, other states. All for 1500 spots in med schools. Crazy!!
I'm non-science background, studied for 6 months, sections I and II were okay - no surprises really, but my second essay was garbage as I totally rushed through it after going way overtime for the first.
Section III - hmmm. I think i realised that no matter how well you know a topic, you can still get the answers wrong in this exam - the questions are presented to you in such a roundabout, confusing way, and you only have time to go read - process - go *BOOM* that's the answer - and run with it. no time to check or think about anything. If scaling is really kind to me i might *just* be okay, but i struggled massively.

Holy hell with your numbers guys! I'm in Perth and I reckon there were 400 people though I'm not sure.
I thought Section 3 was harder than I was expecting I had to guess 10 questions there. The other two sections though were pretty good, I finished Section 1 with about 10 minutes and finished the essays with about 20 minutes spare.
Sec 3 really was a doozy for me
