If you get a percentage and a grade, you use the GAMSA column, regardless of what uni you went to.

Different opinion - a common was an English plot of land (ie English commons). Don't know the context of this passage or when it was written (though I'd suggest it's a few centuries old) however based on what's there (assuming it's the whole thing) it refers to a disparity between punishment of those who steal produce (ie goose) off the land and those who damage / scar the land to such a degree that the produce cannot exist.

you're not at an advantage, though it may seem like it. those tables are only to convert the different grading systems between the unis. that's why so many unis are in Category B, probably because they use the same grading systems, and also why no conversion table is exactly the same as another.

E.g. I'm at Melb Uni and if you and I both score a 79% in a subject, you'd get a 6.75 and I'd get 6.5. But if we both get 80%, you'd stay at 6.75 and I'd get 7.

It all works out the same, there's no escaping the hard work!

Would appreciate confirmation of below.

Just checked instructions on the ACER Gamsat site regarding GPA calculation. If I'm correct, those who recieved degrees from unis in columns A-C (ref undergraduate grading system conversion table) would recieve a GAMSA score of 7 if they got a high distinction, and 6.75 if they got a distinction - not much of a reward for a HD! As this appears illogical and if correct would boost my GPA significantly (confidence boost prior to GAMSAT 2010) I've posted the question here.

Thanks in advance for any replies.

it's implying 'stealing from the average person' (ie: common person).

GAMSAT Discussion :: Weighted GPAs :: Posted by nevets

Hi all.

First of all, this forum is a gold mine. Glad to have things put in perspective with so many people suffering the same fates!

Anyways I'm at Melbourne Uni about to commence my final year of BSc, and I manually calculated my GPA (averaged out the 1st + 2nd years') with a result of 5.5. Best case scenario - if I get 7s for the rest of my subjects this year - I'll have a GPA of 6.1, and worst case, 5.4.

My question is how exactly the different medical schools 'weigh' each year's GPA x1, x2 and x3 each consecutive year. Would it work out better or worse for me if my final year doesn't go as well as I hope?

Thanks a lot!

In Section I, we have roughly 1.33 mins p/question (including reading).

lol - that is a tough gig.
