you may not realise, but if you obtain your med degree overseas, you are regarded by the australian medical council as an 'Overseas Trained Doctor'.
if you wish to come back to australia to work as a doctor, you have to go through a very legnthy process (called the 10 year moratorium) in order to work.
i suggest you google it. i don't recommend you go to med school overseas if you ultimately want to work in australia.

What is the go for Australian citizens studying graduate medicine in the USA? I have been looking at the MCAT exams and they seem easier to me than the GAMSAT (purely because in my undergrad course I studied a lot of human physiol and pharmacy, so I have more background knowledge than problem solving ability which the gamsat requires!)
I just wondered what is the process and are there only fee paying places there for international students, and roughly how much would that be?
If anyone could give me an answer that would be swell

You don't really HAVE to do anything. You write, there are no guidelines how to write it. It doesn't have to be an essay (though it usually is the safest route), I have heard that people wrote a conversation between two people and scored very high.
Though the quotes themselves set Part A up to be expository/argumentative and Part B to be personal/discursive.

yes that is the case in the actual GAMSAT, and no, you don't have any choice. You have to do one of each.
Practice practice practice.... those 2x30 mins of writing are worth as much as the 2 hours of comprehension, and 1/2 as much as the 3 hours of pure science.
Marks for jam.

Hey guys,
Can somebody give me some info about the GAMSAT exam for 2010/2011 year. I'll be a graduate coming from a humanities course, and am more than willing to work hard at Graduate Med School, but the deadline for registration for the March 20th exam was three days, ago, and so I've fallen short. Are there any other backdoors or late applications/exams that can be taken? I know they take place in the UK in September- can Irish students avail of these for places in med school back here in Ireland?
Thanks for your help!
Paul.

If you got a mark out of 100 (say, you get 70), then you use column A, right?

If by column A you mean the GAMSA column, then yes.
